Go Team!

I made this personal resolution to be more active in our ward & do things that I would usually shy away from. For example there was a book club last week that I had every intention of going to but then Danny had an MBA barbeque with delicious, free barbeque so I couldn't.

On Sunday they asked for volunteers to play on the co-ed volleyball team in the stake tournament. I thought that could be fun, I like volleyball & I'm semi-decent at it, so I raised my hand. Little did I know that that simple action would result in being asked to be the team captain.

I sure hope that my team is laid back because I'm not really into the whole "for blood" spirit that some church sports can bring out. I just wanted something to do on Tuesday nights for a month or so. For better or worse I'm now in charge of our team & have some minimal duties. Let's hope I don't choke. Go team!

Beautifulness

All I really have to say is, don't you think we will have such cute kids!?!?!
Not in the near future, but sometime down the road.

Mental Checklist

How is it that when I'm at work all day I think of a bajillion things I need/want to do, but as soon as I get home I can't think of anything besides sitting on the couch watching something on Netflix?

Birthdays!

Ok so maybe just my birthday. Danny was awesome & totally surprised me by buying me a sewing machine! I was super excited. Unfortunately the camera died right as I opened up my present. The sewing machine is awesome but I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet. This will explain why I have numerous sewing blogs on here. Hopefully soon I will get to use that bad boy, until now I'll just look at it longingly in it's box.

Saturdays

Every Saturday I get my hopes up on what I'm going to accomplish. I had high hopes for today with a mental list of to dos. Now the reality, it's 6 o'clock & I think I got 1 1/2 of those todos actually accomplished. It's just one of those blah days. At this point I think there is no recovering it either but hey at least I showered.

Sister Mullen vs Megan Brown

So we had the delightful opportunity to play host to one of Danny's fellow MBAers the other night (I really was excited to have the space to actually let someone stay with us comfortably, as comfortable as a twin bed is). Colby just happened to serve his mission in Auckland NZ where my sister will be heading in two weeks.

My sister has been terrified of gaining weight on her mission, the reasons for this are numerous. One is the  rumors from the mission home and other NZ missionaries calling it the 40 kilo mission. That's right not 40 pounds but 40 kilos (88 pounds because I do use that conversion on a daily basis as a dietitian). Her teacher in the MTC also served in Auckland and gained 100 pounds. He almost doubled his body weight (if my sister's guesstimate of how much he weighs now is accurate). So I thought I would ask Colby if it was true, sadly it is.

Colby said that although he did not gain weight many Elders did and that the Sisters were the ones who most noticeably (wow had trouble spelling that one) gained the weight. He also told us about the Polynesian culture and their expectations for food consumption, to which my ever loving and witty husband made some comment about how "Sister Mullen probably could have handled that". Colby was a little shocked that my husband would say such a thing...that was until I showed him a few choice pictures.

Yep that is me, not an older sister. I am the oldest sister. My husband and I are allowed to talk about me being fat or eating like a haas only if we call her "Sister Mullen" my alter ego. This may also have contributed to my sister's fear of gaining weight on a mission. Luckily I've lost the weight I gained and then some & now have my jawbone back. Unfortunately it sounds like my sister really does have something to worry about.

A picture just so I feel better about myself, after exposing those previous ones. Of course it's one where my hair and make-up were professionally done, but still the jawbone says it all, oh and that's my adorable sister who is aforementioned.

Sneak Peek

My photographer sent me just this one picture from the beach today. Pretty much I had/have the best bridesmaids/friends ever! Ally definitely has the jumping picture down, look how perfectly poised she is.
