From the Mouths of Babes

This is not an actual picture of me. I have not changed my appearance this drastically, nor do my kids sit that attentively and listen to my lessons.

I get the privilege of teaching the 5 year old Sunday School class at church, which is awesome. I love when people ask me how I'm liking my calling, they have this face and voice that expects me to say something terrible or mention how hard it is. Yet I love it. These kids are hilarious. Plus, where else am I going to be able to color or play Button, Button, Who's Got the Button.

Of course, I get tons of hilarious comments from my kids each week. On our drive home from church, Danny and I talk about the funny things both of our Sunday School classes said that day. Some of which include the following:

"That's not the whole story." - which was yelled at the lovely teacher of the combined portion of Sunday School. He had apparently read the same story in the Friend and knew that there was more than the teacher was letting on.

"Look we are both wearing our high heels." The girl was wearing maybe 1/4" wedges. Then later as we are walking to our class "Tate slow down! I can't run in my heels."

On a particular day where the kids were being so attentive and providing me with all the correct answers (note the dripping sarcasm), "I love all the people in the world, including Satan." I just ignored this statement because technically we should love Satan too.

I believe this next quote was in response to the previous comment. I was reaffirming that we needed to make good decisions and follow Jesus' example, "Tate said he follows both Satan and Jesus." I did clear this up because I know for a fact we shouldn't be following Satan.

One of the kids was stealing my chair and says "I know everything." To which the other boy who is quite intelligent said, "What is 10 minus 18?" I'm not sure exactly what was said next but I think the first boy gave an incorrect answer and stated he didn't know what minus means, and the smarty pants boy said, "It's 8." To which I replied, "Actually it's negative 8. 18 minus 10 would be just normal 8." That's right I corrected a 5 year old. It made me feel so smart.

I know there are several other awesome gems of wisdom said by my class, but I'll wait to share those another day.

Wildflowers

I'm a slacker and I know it, but who really reads my blog anyway.

Here are some pictures from our most recent fishing trip and a trip to the countryside to see the beautiful wildflowers. Luckily we had a lot more rain this winter so the wildflowers are much more abundant than last year.

I know, I know, I should be a model. I'll have to look into it to give us some extra income.

Yosemite

Over the break we took a little trip to Yosemite. It was whirlwind and jam-packed but definitely a good trip. Although they usually have snow at this time of year, California lacked snow in all of it's mountains (boo for snowboarding), so we got to hike more than most winter visitors and take a lovely bike ride around the valley floor.
